I don’t know about you, but I hate being told by someone that I “can’t” do something. “Can’t” used in the sense that something can’t be accomplished. I made a vow recently to God in a specific area of my life. I decided to spend some time fasting and praying, as ‘this vow’ would be a much needed change for me, not to mention the fact that it was a stepping stone in the right direction to move me out of an area of sin I have been struggling with and back into the closer relationship with God that I once knew. I wanted accountability and prayer partners for and throughout this process. Little did I know that one of the persons I would approach as a prayer partner, a good Christian friend of mine, would flat out tell me that I couldn’t do it!
She didn’t say “this will be a challenge”, or “with God all things are possible”, or “this is a step in the right direction, and I’ll definitely be praying along with you”; but literally “you can’t do that”. Continue reading →
